short history
zeppelin is a project on education and communication designed a few years ago that I put in a drawer, actually kept it in a computer folder. It was similar to the one we have now: meetings, conferences and seminars involving architects designers, and artists, interesting people who present their ideas and projects, followed by questions and comments. We, the hyperactive group of Arhitectura magazine: Constantin, Ştefan, Cosmina have written this project.
One day, Attila asked us whether we would like to do something in a newly launched interesting space called KLUDIstudio. So, next day in the morning, two clicks were enough to send the zeppelin project to Attila who asked how many people we could have been employed to work all night long for this zeppelin-named project. It was a good project that perfectly matched their plans.
Therefore, in February 2008 thanks to a lucky chance we have launched the first flight. One Thursday evening we joined Miklos Petterfy and Benczur Laszlo at KLUDIstudio and have started zeppelin_01. Thus, we have preserved our monthly Thursday-meetings with and about architecture, design or contemporary arts including good wine and crossing ideas, debates and dialogues. Then, Justin has joined us adding enthusiasm and many good ideas, his passion for architecture and constructive criticism relating to the public space. Certainly, Raluca has been our support by providing us with promotion and fund raising plans.
This open-meeting platform has proved its success in 2008 and 2009: not less than 18 meetings organized at Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism, the Romanian Peasant Museum and KLUDIstudio, those meetings having gathered more than 3,500 attendants altogether. The guests of 2008-2009 editions of zeppelin were: Miklos Pétterfy, Lazlo Benczur (Budapest), Eugen Pănescu, Michael Buck, Cosmina Goagea, Pero Pulij (Amsterdam), Juan Trias de Bes (Barcelona), Angelo Rovenţa (Vienna), Constantin Goagea, Mihaela Kavdanska, Şerban Sturdza, Riychi Miyake, Yasushiro Yamashita, (Tokyo), Kim Attila, Ada Diaconu, Tiberiu Bucşa, Ştefan Ghenciulescu, Mihai Ţucă, Radu Comşa, Justin Baroncea, Raymond Bobar, Dorin Ştefan, Alex Axinte, Cristi Borcan, Andrei Şerbescu, Cosmin Pavel, Adriana Mereuţă, Kai Voekler (Berlin), Michael Obrist (Vienna), Ivan Kucina (Belgrade). They delivered conferences, presented their achievements, projects and future plans.
Zeppelin became an association in November 2008. Since then, it keeps navigating in the same acknowledged fashion, which means flying over, making comments, providing information and criticizing phenomena of contemporary visual arts.
2010 agenda
zeppelin 2009 includes a busy agenda and an ambitious program:
seminars/ conferences:
traditional Thursday meetings keep the rhythm along with new people involved in the entire creative field from architecture and arts to all-design either interior, product, graphic or motion design.
interviews (zeppelin on the air):
zeppelin guests and other personalities live on the air debating with us the topics presented in various conferences. During these interviews, our partner, Radio România Muzical offers high-quality music. Everybody may listen to the interviews on podcasts in MP3 format, directly on the computer or on an MP3 player. 20 to 25 minutes in the traffic or at the office. Broadcasts with interesting people dedicated to the field, first-hand information.
